At a wedding there are two elements that cannot be missing: the bride and groom and, of course, the best wedding hams . Therefore, knowing how to choose them is crucial to enjoying an elegant and memorable ceremony.
Getting married is a very special decision for the couple, and what better way to celebrate it than with a good ham. It is a healthy product that everyone likes, both children and adults. A real success!
You've probably asked yourself: " Which ham should I choose for my wedding ?" So here we tell you how to find one that fits your budget, is delicious and is within your reach.
What should I consider when choosing a ham for my wedding?
Before choosing ham for weddings you should know that there are several aspects to consider, from its classification and labeling to its price:
Classification of ham
There are two ways of classifying, which will help us choose the best hams for weddings ; the first of them is based on the breed and genetics of the animal:
- 100% Iberian ham. When the parents of the pig from which the ham comes are 100% Iberian.
- 75% Iberian ham . The mother of the pig is 100% Iberian, but its father is only 50% Iberian.
- 50% Iberian ham . The mother of the pig is 100% Iberian, while its father is a white pig breed.
On the other hand, hams are also classified by the types of pieces and feeding they have had:
- Ham fed on acorns . When the acorns from the oak tree fall to the ground, the pigs feed on them, as well as other natural products. These are the most exclusive pieces.
- Field-fed ham . It comes from pigs that have been fed with all the products that could be and, at the same time, have been supplemented with natural cereal feed.
- Ham from cebo . This pig has not consumed food from the countryside, on the contrary, it only eats natural feed based on cereals and legumes. We do not offer this type of ham.
The price/quality ratio
When choosing ham for my wedding, don't look for "bargains." If you want a quality piece, you should know that pigs are not cheap and their curing process is not cheap either. Therefore, if you are offered a pack at a low price, it is best to be wary, since it is a product that is expensive to produce.
The label
If you have no idea which ham to choose for my wedding , you can be guided by the colours on the label, which comply with the law. For its part, the black seal is for 100% Iberian ham and the red one for 75-50% Iberian hams that have been fed with acorns.
Similarly, the green label identifies hams from free-range pigs, while the white label corresponds to hams from pigs that have lived on local farms.
What is our opinion?
Without a doubt, it is very difficult to choose a ham for any wedding, that is why we believe that the most important thing is to help you do it, tell us all the details that you think we need to know and we will help you find your perfect ham, whether whole or sliced, but finally, the most normal thing is that we recommend a good and large Bellota ham to have the best possible performance.
