Sustainability is one of our priorities. At Monjamón y Más we work to have the minimal impact on the environment , respecting animals, nature and people. We have always tried to take care of everything around us, maintaining traditions but without forgetting the latest innovations and technologies that have allowed us to improve our sustainability.

Free range pigs

All our products come from pigs raised in freedom in the pastures of Extremadura, the Valley of the Pedroches and the Sierra Norte of Seville. We have our own herd of Iberian pigs that live in the pasture and are fed, in a first phase, on grasses, seeds and ears of corn, and in a second phase, on second phase also known as montanera , from the acorns that give them that characteristic flavour and aroma. The animals live in extremely wide open spaces where they roam freely.

We promote in this way Extensive livestock farming, which today is the most respectful of the environment and the animals themselves , and the maintenance and care of the pastures, which are an essential enclave for the biodiversity of the area.

Local and nearby suppliers

The farmers we work with are dedicated to the extensive livestock farming mentioned above; we avoid large companies and macro-farms.

In addition, the suppliers (stickers, packaging, transport, services...) we work with are from Guijuelo and its surroundings, in this way we promote local and nearby commerce , achieving a reduction in transport emissions and supporting the maintenance of empty and rural Spain.

Sustainable and traditional production

In Monjamón and More We prioritize tradition and sustainability over profit maximization. We follow our grandmothers' recipes and traditional methods combined with the latest technological innovations, but without leaving people behind.

The production of our Iberian hams and sausages is not 100% automated, but is carried out manually by people. We promote employment in the area and at the same time contribute to caring for the environment through the minimum use of machinery and electricity, prioritising energy efficiency. We believe in people over machines and in quality over quantity .

Zero waste

We don't like food waste and we have managed to reach 0%. All animal waste produced in the manufacture of certain parts is sold to an external company that uses it to make animal feed and other products.

Future actions to continue improving sustainability

We know that we still have a lot to improve and learn, that's why we don't stop and we don't plan to do so!

Our goal is to become energy independent by the end of the year. by installing solar panels in our factory. In addition, we are working to improve our packaging and achieve more environmentally responsible packaging that protects the product as it has done up to now.

With small actions we will achieve great changes And at Don Ibérico we want to be part of them. Are you in?
